Conference Centre Launches Lane-O-Lympics Teambuilding

Excitement is building in the final countdown to the 2012 games in London. So why not go for gold with your very own teambuilding tournament?

Teambuilding days are great for building morale and boosting the competitive spirit at your company or organisation.

Lane End Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire has joined forces with with Hi5 Events to offer new Lane-O-Lympics themed teambuilding days.

If you’ve never previously considered conference centres as teambuilding activity venues then it’s time you explored the opportunities offered at Lane End.

This popular venue is set in 26 acres of beautiful Chilterns countryside – ideal for events of all sizes. It has a huge range of residential training, teambuilding and conference facilities.

Lane End’s Lane-O-Lympics days will see teams competing in a series of challenges with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded for team success.

The team that banks the most medals at the end of the competition will be the overall winner.

Challenges include:

•    Biathlon – team members travel on walking skis before firing an air rifle at an alphabet target to collect letters and score points by making words.
•    Basketball Hockey Shoot – players dribble hockey balls down a slalom course then pick up a basketball and try to score baskets.
•    Beach Volleyball – held on Lane End’s new sand-filled court.

Why The Best Team Building Venue Is A Conference Centre

When brainstorming team building ideas, it’s easy for all the initial focus to be more about the activities and less about the venue that will be hosting them.

But it is important not to let all the excitement surrounding the activities overshadow key questions about the venue:
•    Does it have the expertise and facilities to offer a sufficiently wide range of activities?
•    Does it have enough space for large scale team building events such as motorised activities involving quad bikes and off-road buggies?
•    Does it have high quality conference and training facilities if one or more days of team building are to be part of a larger event?
•    Will it have the calibre of accommodation and dining facilities necessary for large team building events spanning several days?
•    Is it quick and easy to reach with good motorway, rail and airport links?

All too often smaller team building venues can tick one or two boxes but not all of them.

So it pays to choose dedicated team building activity centres such as those at specialist conference venues.

Lane End Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire hosts at least 20 different types of team building activities.

They range from hovercraft, quad bikes, off-road buggies and motorised beer kegs to human table football, archery plus various experiential learning challenges.

Lane End Conference Centre is ideally situated to serve London and the corporate City market – it is the only team building venue of its kind within a 20-mile radius.

The centre is set in the beautiful Chilterns countryside with dedicated land set aside for team building in its 26-acre grounds.

Sales and Marketing Manager Heni Fourie said: “We have formed a unique partnership with a neighbouring farmer with direct access to his land from our grounds for motorised activities.

“This ideal working partnership gives us the space to host motorised team activities in a dedicated area that is far enough from our conference facilities to avoid any loud noise to cause distraction.”
