Here’s a tip for all females. It’s OK to send flowers to men! Yes, times have changed. Even the “Macho Man” can be seen going to the spa for a massage or found in the chair next to you at the salon getting a manicure. During the last ten years as a florist I have witnessed more and more flowers being sent to men for Valentine’s Day. And guess what? Men love receiving a gift of flowers. Just make sure to pick a design that isn’t too feminine. I suggest low, contemporary arrangements that will fit easily on a desk.

What better way to get your man’s attention? Send him flowers early in the week and you can count on getting flowers on Valentine’s Day.

When a man receives flowers he probably has the same reaction to them as women do, a feeling of love and caring and it must surely boost his self-esteem in many ways, making him feel fulfilled in every way. That wonderful feeling that someone cares for you can really do wonders to the way you look at life and things in general. You will get more confidence in yourself, and also feel more comfortable with your friends and colleague because you know that there is someone out there who thinks you are important to them and are glad that they have you in their lives.

There are a few things to remember while sending flowers to men. Choose masculine flowers, as a general rule, dark-colored and sturdy flowers are more appropriate. Pay attention to packaging. Opt for a sturdy mug, an earthenware pot, a fishing creel, or a sturdy wicker basket. Orchids are a neutral flower that can be given to either men or women. Orchids come in a variety of colors such as the “Lady Spider” which comes in dark green, purple or chocolate shades. These can be arranged in a masculine looking vase. Also there are black Roses like the “Black Magic” or “Hocus Pocus” which are quite masculine and make a very nice flower arrangement when placed in a nice leather container holder.

Men aren’t big on frilly or dainty flowers… try and find flowers that seem strong and/or exotic. Sunflowers, Ginger Flowers, Fruit Casa, for example, make a good bouquet for men.

Men prefer flowers that are vivid or loud, with colors such as red, orange, and yellow. While blue is a traditional guys’ color, it’s important to remember that many of the shades of blue found in flowers may be seen as feminine.
Use a card to convey your sentiments, few well-chosen words can turn a fellow from confused to flattered. Also, consider plant alternatives. Cactus gardens, although prickly, are especially well received.
